Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Jessie, ND. 

 

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, November 11, 2008 in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and will continue one hour prior to services in the Church. 

 

Prayer Service will be held 7:00 Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND. 

 

Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Jessie, ND.

 

Marie E. Zimprich, 79, Cooperstown, ND, was born August 1, 1929 in Revere, ND, the daughter of Clifford and Florence (Hout) Pittenger.  She lived with her family on several farms until 1945 when they settled on a farm north of Cooperstown.  She graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1947.

 

Marie married Francis Zimprich June 15, 1948 in St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Jessie, ND.  The couple farmed their entire married life on the farm where Francis was born.  In 1995, the couple moved to Cooperstown.  Francis died in 1996.  Marie continued to make her home in Cooperstown.  She died Friday, November 7, 2008 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

 

She was very active in St. Lawrence Ladies Aid.  She loved playing cards, doing family genealogy, and being a grandma.

 

Marie is survived by one daughter, Karen Forde, Menahga, MN; two sons, Steven (Janet) Zimprich, Cooperstown, ND and Robert Zimprich, Cambridge, MN; three sisters, Elaine Nauman, Santa Rosa, CA, Lyla Sandvik, Nome, ND, and Barbara (John) Gedrose, New Rockford, ND; one brother, Larry (Fay) Pittenger, Mandan, ND; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Florence; her husband, Francis; and one son, Jerry.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in Hope American Legion Hall, Hope, ND. 

 

Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in Hope American Legion Hall, Hope, ND with Prayer Service at 7:00.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services in the Legion Hall. 

 

Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND.

 

Marjorie Lenore Kainz, 69, Hope, ND was called home to Heaven on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Luther Memorial Home, Mayville, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

 

Marjorie was born August 8, 1939, near Pillsbury, ND in Elsbury Township, Barnes County, the daughter of Olaf and Emma (Peterson) Lee.  She graduated from Hope High School.

 

She married Ed Kainz September 6, 1958 in the First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, ND.  The couple lived in Hope, where they raised their five daughters.  Marjorie worked at Bob’s Upholstery for over twenty years.

 

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Hope.  She loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed baking, cooking, flowers, and bird-watching.

 

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Edward Kainz, Hope, ND; five daughters, Sandra (Rob) Barnett, Leon, WV, Sherry (Larry) Bjerke, Ayr, ND, Shelly (Todd) Satrom, Galesburg, ND, Vicki (Brian) Sund, Hamburg, MN, and  Elizabeth (Brian) George, Marlette, MI; one brother, David (Joan) Lee, Gainsville, TX; one sister, Louise (Phil) Zerface, Hope, ND; one brother-in-law, Leland Dammen, Minot, ND; and eleven grandchildren, Justin (Cindy) Barnett, Alissa Barnett, Timothy (Christine) Bjerke, Thomas (Kelly) Bjerke, Tami (Ben) Albert, Kelly Satrom, Jacob and Mitchell Sund, and Barret, Bryce, and Brayden George.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Olaf and Emma Lee; and one sister, Signe Dammen.

MYRTLE A. FREER

 

Visitation will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Faith Lutheran Church, Hannaford, ND with a Celebration of her life to follow at 11:00 am.

 

Burial will be at Faith Cemetery, Hannaford, ND.

 

Myrtle A. Freer, 94, Cooperstown, ND and formerly Hannaford, ND, passed away on October 13, 2008 at the Cooperstown Medical Center-Nursing Home, Cooperstown, ND. 

 

Myrtle Alvina Bakken was born on April 9, 1914 in Hannaford, North Dakota, the daughter of Markus and Anna (Sabbe) Bakken.  She grew up in Hannaford and graduated from Hannaford High School.  She attended teacher's college in Valley City and taught at various rural country schools.

 

Myrtle was united in marriage to Claude Freer on September 20, 1937.  They made their home in the Walum and Hannaford area until moving to the Cooperstown Medical Center-Nursing Home in November of 2006.

 

She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford where she was an avid quilter.  She loved baking and excelled at lefse. She was a devoted Twins fan and loved playing cards and various games with her friends and family as she learned to play double-deck pinochle at the age of 92 with her nursing home friends.

 

Myrtle is survived by her husband, Claude, of 71 years, Cooperstown, North Dakota; two daughters, Carole (Don) McKinney of Irvine, California, and Claudia (Jim) Jacobsen, of Luverne, North Dakota; three grandchildren, Darcey (Don) Kosolofski, Hope, North Dakota; Clay (Jessica) Jacobsen, Luverne, North Dakota; Greg (Ruby) McKinney, Irvine, California; and six great-grandchildren; Brady, Mara, Kada, Greg, Jr., Lee, and Kennedy.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur and John; and one sister, Thelma.

A Prayer Service in Ken’s memory will be held at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, ND on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 7:00 pm with Visitation beginning at 5:00 pm. 

 

Funeral Services will be held at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, ND on Saturday, October 4, 2008 with Mass beginning at 10:00 am.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Agatha’s Catholic Church, the Hope Golf Course, and the Hope Library.

 

 

Kenneth Ihry, age 75, of Hope, North Dakota passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo.

 

Kenneth Arthur Ihry was born in Hope, North Dakota on April 24, 1933 to Theresa (Gehrens) and John Ihry.

 

Ken grew up on a farm near Luverne, N.D. where he attended school for 11 years and graduated from Hope High School in 1951.  He attended North Dakota State University for 2 years.

 

Ken married Iris Dorine Landstrom on December 20, 1952 at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church in Hope, North Dakota.  They farmed near Hope for nearly 29 years and had a crop spraying service as well.  He also owned and managed Ken’s Lounge in Hope for many years.  He was a salesman through the years for Finley Motors, Hope Implement, Galesburg Implement, and Hunter Equipment.  Ken was a lifelong member at St. Agatha’s Catholic Church and served on the Hope City Council as well as the Hope Housing Board.

 

Ken thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their extra curricular activities.  He loved golfing and spending time on the Ihry farm.  He was an avid sports fan, cheering especially for the N.D.S.U. Bison, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Vikings.   He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend.

 

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa Ihry; brothers Leo and Adolph; sisters Marie and Edna; and granddaughter Robin Ihry.

 

Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Iris of Hope; four sons, David Leroy (Vicki) of Fargo, ND, Dean Michael (Brenda) of Bentonville, AR, Kenneth Jerome (Tarra) of Reynolds, ND, Ross Duane (Mary) of Maple Grove, MN; two daughters, Kathryn Eileen (Corey) Satrom of Arthur, ND, Susan Michelle (Kirby) Kyllo of Casselton, ND; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Connie) of Hope, ND, John of Hope, ND, and Elmer (Rosalie) of Valley City, ND; one sister, Margaret Gunderson of Hope, ND; and two sisters-in-law, Althea Ihry and Ardis Ihry, both of Hope, ND.

Alfred J. Fieber, 82, Cooperstown, ND, passed away at MeritCare in Fargo, ND on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from cancer.  He was born in Karnak, ND on December 19, 1925.  His parents were John and Pauline (Krider) Fieber. 

 

Alfred was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army infantry.  He married Caroline Walen on July 8, 1946. 

 

Alfred and Caroline moved to Tacoma, WA in 1964 where he worked as a journeyman carpenter until his retirement in 1990.  They relocated to Cooperstown, ND in 2003.

 

Alfred is survived by his children, Jeanne (James) Everson, Hannaford, ND, James (Jackie) Fieber, Tacoma, WA, and Vicki (Allen) Eslinger, Hannaford, ND; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; his parents; and siblings; Helen, Geraldine, Erma, Frank, Teressa and Martha.

DONALD J. HEGVIK

Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND, and will continue one hour prior to services in the Church. 

 

Interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND.

 

Donald J. Hegvik, 74, Jamestown, ND and formerly Cooperstown, ND, was born January 9, 1934, the son of John and Marie (Simon) Hegvik in Sioux Falls, SD.  He attended several schools in North Dakota, graduating from Westhope High School, Westhope, ND in 1954 where his father was Superintendent of Schools.

 

Don had a draying business in Westhope until 1955 when he went into the Army, serving in Iceland until 1957, when he was discharged.

 

He then worked for a roofing company, a bottling company, and several restaurants until he entered St. Cloud Business College, where he received an accounting diploma in 1959.

 

Don worked as an orderly, bookkeeper, and maintenance engineer in several nursing homes and hospitals: North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown, Good Samaritan Village, Bryant Nursing Home, LaMoure Nursing, and Griggs County Hospital in Cooperstown.  He was custodian at the Main Line Unitarian Church in Devon, PA until 1989.  He then moved to Cooperstown to be with his mother after the death of his father.  In 1998, following the death of his mother, he moved to Jamestown and made his home there.  He became a resident of Hi-Acres Manor where he died Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
