CARRIE MAY TORGERSON

CARRIE TORGERSON Carrie May Sjokvist Torgerson, 91, Karnack, ND passed away October 9, 2011 in the Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND where she had been a resident since June 19, 2006. Carrie May Taylor was born August 15, 1920 in Wells, MN, the daughter of Jacob and Florence (Wymore) Taylor. As a small child she moved with her parents to North Dakota and she attended rural schools. She married Ingmar Sjokvist December 2, 1936. The couple made their home near Karnack, ND. Ingmar passed away in 1959. Carrie continued to make her home on the farm where she raised four children. She married Kenneth Torgerson and they made their home on the farm and he passed away April 14, 1991. Carrie enjoyed playing cards, cooking, gardening, raising flowers and houseplants. Mother prized her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carrie is survived by two daughters: Lorretta (Gordon) Domier, Portland, ND; Inga (Richard) Wohlsdorf, Grand Rapids, MN; two sons, Ingmar (Linda) Sjokvist, Dazey, ND; Gary Sjokvist, Fargo, ND; a sister, Millie Jore, Baudette, MN; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and three great -great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ingmar and Kenneth, six brothers and five sisters. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011 at 10:30 am in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2011 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the funeral home and one hour before services. Interment will be in the Luverne Cemetery, Luverne, ND.
