HOLLIS T. GUNDERSON

August 8, 1923 — October 26, 2011

HOLLIS T. GUNDERSON Hollis Theron Gunderson 88 of Cooperstown, ND passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Cooperstown Medical Center Nursing Home. Hollis was born on August 8, 1923 to Olaf and Hazel (Koloen) Gunderson in Griggs County where he lived all his life. Hollis was baptized and confirmed at Ottawa Lutheran Church where he was a lifetime member and supporter. Over the years, he held several different church offices. Farming was Hollis’s life. With his quiet humor and twinkle in his eye he enjoyed teaching Farming 101 to his immediate family. In his early years he enjoyed his cabin at Red Willow Lake, fishing, hunting, and travel with his friends. He also took his parents to Arizona for several winters. After moving to Cooperstown, ND, he enjoyed meeting his buddies for early morning coffee at the Coachman Inn. Over the years Hollis was an avid collector of Winchester rifles and currently collected thermometers and toy tractors. Survivors are his nephew, Jerome (Irene) Askelson from Fargo, ND and his great niece, Mary Askelson from Portland, OR and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Helen Askelson and an infant brother. Special thanks to the staff of CMC, Pastor Ken and everyone who came to visit Hollis while he resided at CMC. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:30 pm in the Ottawa Lutheran Church, rural Aneta, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church.
