GERALD GENE JACOBSEN

Gerald Gene Jacobsen Gerald Gene Jacobsen, age 73 of Pelican Rapids, MN, passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 at Eventide Health Center in Moorhead, MN where he was for a brief stay. Jerry or “Jake” as most people fondly remember him, was born June 24, 1940. He attended Luverne School grades 1-12. Shortly after High School he married Jackie McKay and they farmed in Luverne, ND. They lovingly raised 3 children; Scott Neil, Judy Jo, and Kristy Kay who sadly died at the tender age of 3. After farming they moved to Hope, and owned & operated the J&J Drive Inn. Gerald loved driving semi and did so for over 30 years. He loved playing cards, and visiting. Jerry was known for his love of a good conversation and healthy banter. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his longtime friend Betty Anderson and her children & grandchildren. Jerry is survived by his loving son Scott (Debra) Jacobsen of Anchorage, AK, daughter Judy (Kirby) Voltz of Clifford, grandson, Ceezar Martinsen-Jacobsen, brother Leroy (Bertha) Jacobsen of Hope, and sisters Renee (Jack) Dale of Colorado and Debra (Marlen) Kroeplin of Hope, brother in law Jim Ihry of Pelican Lake, MN, and many nieces & nephews. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Edna & Viggo Jacobsen, sister Betty Ihry, daughter Kristy Kay Jacobsen, and nephew Jay Matthew Ihry. Services will be held, Monday, August 5th, at 2:30 in the Hope American Legion.
