ALICE O. BRISS

October 17, 1927 — July 17, 2014

ALICE O. BRISS Alice was born October 27, 1917 on the farm near Glenfield, ND, the daughter of Henry and Ellen (Vestig) Walen. She grew up there and graduated from Glenfield High School. She was baptized and confirmed in the Glenfield Lutheran Church. She married Robert Briss November 13, 1946 in Carrington, ND. The farmed in the Kensal-Glenfield area, then they moved to the Glenfield-Binford farm. During the years on the farm she was a partner in all the work. She loved the caring for the animals. She raised chickens and gathered eggs for years. There was always a garden of vegetables and flowers. Alice would can as much as she could for the coming winter. In 1978 they moved to Cooperstown, ND. Alice continued her gardening and was very proud of the neat yard and flowers. Shortly after the move she began working at the Griggs County Nursing Home. Alice enjoyed the people and the work and was a wonderful care giver. Alice also enjoyed the quilting at Trinity Lutheran Church. During the later years family and friends were the care givers to her, even when she did not want help. Alice was so grateful for those who stopped by to hello-how are you? Alice Olivia (Walen) Briss passed away, Thursday, July 17, 2014 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND. Peacefully- at rest. Blessed be her Memory. She leaves a son, Roger, Mesa, AZ; a daughter, Marilyn (Duane) Johnson, Waterville, MN; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law. Doris, Donna Lou and Barbara. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ellen; husband, Robert; two sisters, Ella and Levina and five brothers, Harry, August, Maynard, Albert and Lewis. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be one hour before in the Church. Interment will be at 1:00 in the Glenfield Cemetery, Glenfield, ND
