JORGEN C. PEDERSEN Jorgen C. Pedersen, 89, Cooperstown, ND, formerly of Luverne, ND died Sunday, September 14, 2014 in the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown, ND. Jorgen Christian Pedersen was born in Cooperstown, North Dakota on July 28, 1925, the son of Niels and Mary (Rasmussen) Pedersen. He attended school in Luverne, ND, graduating in 1943. Jorgen then worked on the family farm until drafted into the U. S. Army in 1946, where he served as a firefighter in Whittier, Alaska until 1948. Upon returning home he enrolled at Valley City State University as a Pre Med student. He was married to Patricia Doyle in March of 1949 in Hope, ND. They made their home on the family farm near Luverne for the next 50 years, raising six children. Jorgen was a member of the Luverne Lutheran Church and served on its board of directors for many years. He also served as a Broadview Township Supervisor for 42 years, as well as serving on the Luverne School Board and the board of the Luverne Farmers Elevator. In addition to farming, Jorgen had a passion for breeding Hereford cattle. He was a member of the North Dakota Hereford Association, being named its Commercial Breeder of the Year in 1990. Jorgen is survived by six children: sons; Dennis (Mary) of Albuquerque, NM, Donald (Marcie) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Dale (Nancy) of Luverne, ND; daughters; Diane (Douglas) Stoltz of Bismarck, ND, Peggy (Pat) Pedersen of Corvallis, OR and Mary (Donald) Hincks of Livingston, MT, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia and sister Karen Arneson. Funeral services will be Friday, September 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Luverne Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Thursday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Luverne Cemetery following the funeral.
