ARDELLE J. ASKEGARD

ARDELLE ASKEGARD Ardelle Askegard, Finley, ND, 88, passed away on Monday, November 24 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo. Ardelle was born, March 13, 1926 in Finley, ND the daughter of Julius and Anna (Jacobson) Brekke. She graduated in 1944 from Finley HS with 12 years of perfect attendance. Ardelle started working at the Steele County Courthouse in the Selective Service Office. She married Donald Askegard on November 5, 1946 in Warren, MN and made their home in Finley. She continued working at the Courthouse, took a few years off and returned, working in most offices and lastly in Extension Service, retiring in 1991. Ardelle had many talents. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking, oil painting, flower gardening, reading and serving others. She also worked a few years at the flower shop in Cooperstown for holidays and weddings. Ardelle enjoyed helping children, teaching 4 year olds in Sunday school and was a 4-H leader for many years. She judged many 4-H competitions and was active in church. She is survived by 3 children, David (Elizabeth), Minneapolis; Daniel, Roseville, MN; and Mary Jo (Cliff) Watts, Mapleton, ND.; one grandson, Adam Watts and one great-grandson, Ryan Askegard. Proceeded in death by her parents, loving husband, Donald, her brothers Ellsworth and Sanford, and grandson, Allen Askegard. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Finley Lutheran Church, Finley, ND. Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Finley Lutheran Church and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be Friday at 7:00 in the Church. Interment will be in the Finley Cemetery, Finley, ND.
