LEILA MATHEWS Leila Mathews, 69, Cooperstown, ND died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Cooperstown Medical Center, Cooperstown, ND. Leila was born September 2, 1945 in Jamestown, ND the daughter of Alvin and Marvelle (Olson) Simenson. She grew up in Cooperstown, ND and attended school there. She married Cleveland Charles Mathews June 30, 1965 in Renton, WA. The couple made their home in Tacoma, WA, Las Vegas, NV, Walled Lake, MI, Bakersfield, CA and back home to Cooperstown, ND. Leila was a sales associate for Montgomery Wards in Pontiac, MI and for Robinson-May Co. in Bakersfield, CA. Leila had a love for travel by truck and Harley! She enjoyed decorating, cooking, and helping with family and friends. She loved animals and had a smile that you could see and feel for miles. She was kind and wore her heart/feelings on her sleeve. She was a burst of happiness where ever she went; her budding nature was always present. She lived for her husband, daughter and her precious granddaughter. To know her was to love her. She is survived by her husband, Cleveland, Cooperstown, ND; daughter, Sarah Sanders, Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Emma Sanders, Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law, Mary Coffman and Jennie Willingham both of Bakersfield, CA; aunt, Thelma Turner, Cooperstown, ND, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and step father, Alan Arneson. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at 11:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 in the Church.
