ALICE ANDERSEN Her angel wings were ready but our hearts were not. Alice Mae Andersen left us Tuesday, October 11th, 2016 at Sanford Care in Fargo, ND surrounded by family members. Alice was born April 28th, 1928 at Waubay, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Julius and Marie (Leimkuhl) Schmig. She met Henning C. Andersen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on a blind date. They were married November 21, 1953 in Sioux Falls. They made their home on the family farm in Hope, ND where they farmed for many years before moving into an apartment in Hope in 2007. They were married for 57 years until Henning's passing in 2011. Alice was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, the Homemakers club, the Hope golf course and the birthday club. Her favorite hobbies included playing cards, puzzles drinking coffee, and dining out. Coffee-drinking visitors were never disappointed. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her three children, Carmen (Gary) Bakken, Hope, ND; Lori (Rod) Wanner, Bismarck, ND; Julie (Clayton) Schumaker, Bismarck, ND; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 siblings, Opal Lynch, Ohio; Ray "Bud" Schmig, Sioux Falls, SD. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Please send healing prayers to the Clayton Schumaker family. Visitation will be Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 5 – 7 pm with a Prayer Service at 6 pm in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Visitation will continue from 1- 2 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 pm, Monday, October 17 at the Church. Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND.
