LESLIE E. RONNINGEN

LESLIE E. RONNINGEN Leslie Eugene Ronningen, age 67, of Cooperstown, ND passed away on November 3, 2016 at the age of 67 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Les was born in Cooperstown, ND on September 2, 1949 to F.L. “Pete” and Phyllis (Larson) Ronningen. He graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1967 and attended North Dakota State School of Science from 1968-1970 where he received a degree in Diesel Maintenance. Shortly thereafter, he began farming in the Cooperstown area and did so for 15 years. In 1976, Les married Elayne Hanson and they were blessed with three sons. After getting out of farming, Les did many different jobs over the years for a host of different people. In 2005, Les married Dawn Erickson. There were several things that anyone who knew Les knew about him. He loved to tinker on just about anything. He could regularly be found working on things in his garage or basement, and most things that he owned looked like he had fixed or manipulated them in order to suit his needs. He also loved his sons. A conversation with Les couldn’t go very long before he was talking about them and how proud of them he was. But mostly, Les loved the Lord. He had scripture written on notecards all over his house, his Bible had a permanent place on the table in his living room, and he used several Bible studies as a way of socializing with others while also furthering his relationship with Jesus. Through good times and hard times, his faith remained steadfast. The Lord was his rock and salvation and he trusted him with his entire heart. Les is survived by his mother Phyllis (Larson) (Ronningen) Osmundson, Cooperstown, ND; his sons Joel (Lydia) Ronningen, Kindred, ND, John (Emily) Ronningen, Argusville, ND, and Jared (Joanna) Ronningen, Le Sueur, MN; grandchildren Peter and Ella Ronningen, Kindred, ND; brother Barry (Donna) Ronningen, Cooperstown, ND, and sister Judy (Henry Zimprich) Ronningen, Binford, ND. He is preceded in death by his father F.L. “Pete” Ronningen, step-father Allen Osmundson, brother-in-law Kent VenHuizen, and niece Rhonda (Ronningen) Hoyt. A Memorial Service will be held, 11 a.m on Saturday, November 12th at Zion Lutheran Church. A Prayer Service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, November 11th at Zion Lutheran Church.
