JOYCE HELEN WHITMORE Joyce Helen Whitmore 78, Hope, ND, died Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Sanford Health Mayville, ND. Joyce Helen was born December 12, 1938 in Hope, ND the daughter of Orville and Francis (Young) Knutson. She grew up and attended school in Colgate, ND and graduated from Colgate High School. She moved to Fargo, ND where she worked at White Drug. On November 23, 1958 she married Mason Whitmore in Colgate, ND. The couple moved to a farm near Hope, ND in 1958 where they still reside. She was a farm wife also driving truck with her husband and drove the Steele County Senior Citizens Transit Bus. Horses were a big part of Joyce’s life, raising, working with and showing horses. She loved to play card games with her family. In 2007 she participated in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, NV. Joyce was deeply involved with the Colgate Presbyterian Church, Ladies aid, an original member of the 61 Homemakers and a 4-H leader in Steele County. She is survived by husband, Mason, Hope, ND; daughter, Lori (Steve) Fuglestad, Hope, ND sons, Ted (Tara) Whitmore, Fargo, ND, Scott, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Dane and Jamie Fuglestad, Hallie and Richard Warren, Whitney and Parker Hillius, Ashton Whitmore and Garrett Whitmore; three great grandchildren; brothers, David Knutson, Fargo, ND and Allen Knutson, Vernal, UT. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ernie Knutson; sister, JoAnn Kubischta; sister-in-law, Janice Knutson. Funeral services will be, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Colgate Presbyterian Church, Colgate, ND. Visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2017 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Colgate Presbyterian Church and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 pm in the Church. Interment will be in the Page Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make your memorials to the Colgate Presbyterian Church.
