MYRTLE JOSEPHINE ELLEFSON

MYRTLE JOSEPHINE ELLEFSON Myrtle Josephine Ellefson, 101, Cooperstown, ND, was born June 12, 1915, in Pilot Mound Township, Griggs County, ND (near Binford), the daughter of Joe and Julia (Botnan) Boyer. She grew up and attended rural school in Pilot Mount Township. She was baptized and confirmed at West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Binford. She married E. Hamlin Ellefson June 4, 1939 in Aneta, ND. The couple farmed in rural Griggs County their entire married life. Myrtle died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Cooperstown Care Center, Cooperstown, ND, where she had been a resident. She enjoyed family, gardening, flowers, auctions, cats and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She also enjoyed old cars and attended many car shows and local parades with her husband and family. During her lifetime she was very active in the Ottawa Lutheran Church and especially enjoyed Ladies Aid and the Home Makers Club. Myrtle is survived by three sons, Elwood (Cheryl) Ellefson, Aneta, ND, Steve (Jolene) Ellefson, Bismarck, ND, and Kevin (Patricia) Ellefson, Charlotte, NC, two daughter-in-laws Beverly Ellefson, Cooperstown, ND, and Marlys Ellefson, Fargo, ND, ten grandchildren, Brent (Becky) Ellefson, Brenda (Chris) Domeier, Tammy (Mike) Littlefield, Chelsea Ellefson, Jeff Ellefson, Julie (Chad) Lachowitzer, Scott (Brenda) Ellefson, Shawn (Ann) Ellefson, Whitney (Chad) Rossman, Dylan Ellefson, and eighteen great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamlin; two sons, Terry and Gary; one brother Oswald Boyer; three sisters Signa Stusiak, Laura Watne, and Lyla Rea; and her parents, Joe and Julia Boyer. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Ottawa Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday, March 31, 2017 at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND and one hour before services at the Church. Prayer Service will be 7:00 pm Friday in the funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ottawa Cemetery, Aneta, ND.
