MADELYN (MAC) HAVORSON Madelyn Margaret (Mac) Halvorson passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Griggs County Care Center, Cooperstown ND. Mac was born on June 9,1920 to P.A. and Estell Biggerstaff on the family farm between Glenfield and Sutton ND. Mac had 8 brothers and sisters. She attended and graduated from Glenfield High School. On Dec. 26, 1940. She married Wallace Halvorson at West Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Binford. They lived in Binford most of their married life, also having lived in Walum, ND, Minneapolis, MN, and Fargo, ND. Mac held various jobs well into her 80’s. Wally passed away on Oct. 6, 1981, and she continued to live in Binford until just 8 weeks before her death, spending the last 3 years living with Larry and Rita. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford. Mac loved to cook and bake. She was known for her wonderful potato salad and fried chicken. Mac loved the Christmas baking that she and Rita did each and every year, including this past holiday season. She was an avid follower of her grandchildren’s, then the great grandchildren’s sporting events- whether ballgames or rodeos, she was always interested. The Minnesota Twins were a must to watch when she was not making the trek to the Casino which was another of her favorite activities. In fact, night before she entered the hospital, she made her final trip to the Casino in Devils Lake. Family was most important to Mac. She is survived by her sons Larry (Rita) and Ron (Shelley). She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Heather (Sam} Davids, Tory (Ellen Horn) Halvorson, Nikki (Alan) Boote, Robin (Glenn) Anderson, and Louis (Kristi) Halvorson and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Darlyne Nordstrom, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wally, brothers Willis, Bob, Bud (Milan) and Bernard. Also her sisters, Frances Iverson, Dorothy Bjornson, and Hazel Strouse. A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Binford, ND. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:30 to 6:30 in the Church. Interment will be in the Trinity Cemetery, Binford, ND.
