ALLAN (A.J.) JACOBSEN

ALLAN (A.J.) JACOBSEN Allan Jacobsen, 74, of Luverne, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by all of his family under the care of CHI Hospice Care at Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND on May 27, 2017. Allan Eugene Jacobsen was born July 25, 1942 to Eugene and Alpha (Bergdahl) Jacobsen in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family then moved to North Dakota where they began farming and where Allan grew up with his two brothers, Russ and Jeff. Allan attended Luverne Public School, grades K-12, where he was an avid sports athlete. After graduating, he attended North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton and also joined the National Guard. During his high school days, Allan met Barbara Johnson and later they were married on September 12, 1964 in Hope, ND. They made their home in Luverne, ND where Allan farmed with his son Mark and grandson Dylan up until he lost his battle with cancer. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene "Beans" and Alpha, and his brother Jeff. Allan is survived by his wife Barb, daughter Lisa (CJ) Johnson, son Mark (Stacy) Jacobsen, grandchildren Kimberly (Dan) Schwehr, Jeremy (Alanna) Johnson, Megan (Levi) Ellingson, Justin (Sherry) Johnson and Dylan (Megan) Jacobsen and great-grandchildren Carson, Will, James, Lucy, Lola, Cali and Eli. He is also survived by his brother Russ (Jean) Jacobsen; sister-in-law, Jan Garkowski and many nieces and nephews.. AJ loved his family and friends more than anyone will ever know, especially his grandkids who will miss his weekly and daily phone calls. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 31 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Luverne Lutheran Church with A Prayer Service at 7:00 PM in the Church. Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 1 at 2:00 PM at the Luverne Lutheran Church with the burial at the Luverne Cemetery.
