Dorothy Moore, 83, Hope, ND died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Her cocoon has opened and Dorothy is now enjoying the splendor and fellowship of her lord and savior. Dorothy, lover of butterflies and daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Seagren) Jacobson, came in to this world at Onamia, MN, on November 6, 1933, the youngest of twelve children. Dorothy’s parents both passed away before she turned 14 years old. She lived consecutively with a brother, favorite teacher and an older sister before marrying Wesley Moore in 1950 in Pickert, ND. She and Wesley were parents of 8 children, the last one, Wendy, being born five months after Wesley’s tragic death in a work place accident in Tioga, ND. During her marriage, she helped Wesley support the family by various means including being a farm wife, managing a Trailer Court and Motel, and managing a roller rink skate rental. After Wesley’s death, Dorothy raised eight children as a single mother in Hope, ND, helping to pay expenses by house cleaning, babysitting, working as a cook at Hope Lanes and working as a detail worker at Finley Motors. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her parents; her parents-in-law; all eleven siblings; and two of her sons, William and Jeffrey. She is survived by her six children; Norell (Dana) Moore, Homer, AK, Terry (Susan) Moore, La Habra, CA, Sandy (Tom) Bommersbach, Fargo, ND, Janeen Moore, Thunder Bay, Canada, Randal Moore, Minneapolis, MN, and Wendy Moore (Wes), Billings, MT; nine grandchildren, Julie (Pat) Yakis, David Moore, Chelsea, Victoria, and Casey Moore, Angela (Brian) and William (Kristyn) Day, Madora (Warren) Moshonsky, and Cassandra Moore Maisel. Dorothy's family would like to thank the Villa Maria Staff for their loving, compassionate care provided to our mother.
