MARGARET THARALDSON

November 11, 1926 — August 14, 2017

MARGARET THARALDSON Margaret Kristina Tharaldson passed away at the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 90. Margaret was born November 11, 1926 at the family home near Finley, ND to Ole and Anna (Hanson) Gustafson, and was one of seven children. She worked several years for the Sharon (ND) Hospital and married the late Obert A. Tharaldson of rural Aneta on April 10, 1951. They farmed and raised the family there until retirement brought she and Obert to reside in Cooperstown. She was a lifelong member of the Ottawa Lutheran Church, where she served diligently in Ladies Aid, Sunday School, Luther League, and in various church leadership positions. Margaret loved helping others, enjoying time with her family and friends sharing memories over coffee and laughter, listening to Gospel and Country music, and traveling across America and her home state of North Dakota. She was a gracious lady who believed in kindness to all. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Truley (Dave) Trautman and Wanda (Raymond) Du Plooy of Cooperstown, stepchildren Shirley Arneson of Monrovia, CA and Owen Tharaldson of Dallas, TX, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her sisters Ruth (Dennis) Gunderson and Lillian (Marvin) Myers of Cooperstown, Jeanette Johnson of Fargo, and Anna (Duane) Splittstoesser of Akeley, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin brothers (Henry and Helmer Gustafson), and stepson (Burton Tharaldson). Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2017 at the Quam Plaisted Cushman Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Ottawa Lutheran Church, Aneta, ND on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Reverend Ken Iverson officiating. Interment will be at the Ottawa Cemetery immediately following the service. Lunch will be served by the Ottawa Ladies Aid in the Church Basement.
