DIANA HAALAND Diana Kay Haaland passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2017, at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND. Diana Kay Sandvik was born on September 24, 1946, at Lutheran Deaconess Hospital, Minneapolis, MN to Lorraine and Arne Sandvik of Cooperstown, N.D. Diana attended country school in Griggs County and then graduated from Cooperstown High School in 1964. Diana was united in marriage to Arne Haaland on June 10, 1967, in Cooperstown, N.D. Son, Nathan was born in Cooperstown, ND. Arne’s career then took them to Fairmont, MN where their daughter, Kara was born. While living in Fairmont, Diana operated a daycare center for many years and later worked for the Fairmont School District. Diana and Arne then moved to Alexandria, MN. Diana obtained her real estate license and sold homes. They then moved to Jamestown, N.D. and Diana worked for the Jamestown School District, which she retired from in 2009. Diana and Arne also had a lake home in Devils Lake and for a brief time lived in Bismarck, ND. In 2010 Diana and Arne moved to Frazee, MN and currently resided on Little Toad Lake. Diana, “Dee”, was the oldest of 9 children and this gave her the motherly, loving instincts to her younger siblings and later to nieces and nephews and numerous other family members. She was a loving grandmother and doting great-grandmother. It was especially important for Diana and Arne to attend the many family events that took place over the years. Diana loved to interact with the children and often teased them and brought joy to their hearts. Diana didn’t judge others and accepted all for who they were. Diana’s interests and hobbies were reading, baking, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. For many years Diana and Arne had a permanent camping spot on Devils Lake where she enjoyed fishing and always welcomed many family members and friends. She loved to entertain and her home was always open to family and friends. Diana enjoyed having the grandchildren for visits and babysat, great-granddaughter, Paisley. Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Lorraine and Arne Sandvik, Paula and Irwin Haaland, Step-father, Richard Ellefson, brother, Wayne, and 2 grandchildren. Diana is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arne, son, Nathan (Tasha) Haaland, Valley City, ND, Kara (Wade) McDonald, Frazee, MN, grandchildren, Devin (Trisha) McDonald, Kaia McDonald, Christian and Emma Haaland, BreeAnna (Tim) Swindling and Skyler Husebye. Great-grandchildren, Becca Brame and Paisley McDonald. Sisters, Janice (Frank) Fritel, Devils Lake, ND, Linda (Magnus) Haaland, Cooperstown, ND, Lois (Rodney) Wiseman, Cooperstown, ND, Carol Sandvik, Fairmont, MN, Allan Sandvik, West Fargo, ND, Neil (Vicki) Sandvik, Park City, KS, Kenny (Randi) Sandvik, Cooperstown, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. Brothers-in-law, Kjell (Charlotte) Haaland, Ivar (Karen) Haaland, Andy (Gail) Haaland. Sisters-in-law Torilll (Ray) Wasness, Gladys (Mark) VerValin. Diana touched the lives of many individuals and she will be greatly missed by all. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2017, Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m., Service at 11:00 a.m. at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home in Cooperstown, ND with burial following service
