Eldren O. Haugen

ELDREN O. HAUGEN Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10:30 am in the Union Lutheran Church, rural Hannaford, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Church and one hour before services in the Church. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday in the Church. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery Eldren was born December 19, 1917 near Hannaford, ND the son of Julius and Emma (Carlson) Haugen. He grew up and attended rural school there. He was baptized and confirmed in the Union Lutheran Church, rural Hannaford, ND Eldren served in the CCC’s prior to WWII. He married Gerda Haugen August 16, 1942 in the Union Lutheran Church, rural Hannaford, ND. The couple made there home near Hannaford where they farmed there entire married life. Gerda passed away August 5, 1997. Eldren married Bertha (Birdie) Schoenwald September 18, 1998 in Union Lutheran Church. The couple made their home on the farm and then moved to Cooperstown, ND and spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Eldren died Sunday, April 18, 2010 in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND Eldren served as Township Officer for Broadview Township for fifty years and also served on the Union Lutheran Church board for many years. He is survived by his wife Bertha (Birdie), Cooperstown, ND, 2 sons, Eldo (Connie), Hannaford, ND, Ronald (Diane), Dazey, ND; three daughters, Jeanne (Duane) Morrison, Robinson, ND, Karen (Tim) Nelson, Plattsmouth, NE, Kathleen (Scott) Helmer, Hannaford, ND; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; step daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Auen, Savannah, GA; step son , Robert Schoenwald, Middleton, WI; four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by his parents, wife, Gerda, three sisters and three brothers.
