ALBERT ESLINGER
Albert Eslinger, 99, died peacefully at Griggs County Care Center on July 15, 2026. Albert was born in Coleharbor, ND, on September 1, 1926, to David & Lydia Eslinger. They lived in Garrison, ND, and Akeley, MN, before settling in the Hannaford area when Albert was 14. Then he worked on farms until he joined the Army January 10, 1945. He served during World War II in the Pacific and was discharged as a Corporal on August 26, 1946. He received the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. He returned to North Dakota to farm west of Hannaford and met and married Loretta Himmerich on September 20, 1951. They made their home in rural Hannaford and had 5 children. Albert went to work for a short time with his brothers moving buildings, then went to work at Melroe in Cooperstown where he stayed for 10 years when they closed down. Then he and his sons went into the carpentry business until his retirement.
After retirement, he enjoyed woodwork and gardening. He loved having family and friends visit and was still baking and cooking in his 90s.
Albert is survived by children Leland (Betty Ustanko) of Colman, SD; Calvin (Connie) of Hannaford; Allen (Vicki) of Hannaford; Julie Johnson of Cooperstown; and Connie (Nolan) Johnson of Cooperstown. Grandchildren and their children Andrew (Jessica), Avery, Adriana & Alexa Johnson; Justin Eslinger; Kody Eslinger; Heather (Aaron), Anna & Josie Beisch; Laura (Kory), Gage, Blake & Case Gilbertson; Josh (Hannah), Amelia & Violet Eslinger; Davis Eslinger; and Emily (Jason), Abigail, Jude & Eleanor Bivens. Step grandchildren and their children Stephanie, Alayna & Alyssa Brown and Sean Richardson. He is also survived by brother Bernhart and many nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Loretta and her siblings, grandson Jared, son-in-law Neal Johnson and siblings Emil, Rueben, Hilda, Arthur, Leona, Lorraine, Lloyd, Alvin and Elmer.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 3:00 pm till 4:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 4:00 pm in the Faith Lutheran Church in Hannaford, ND. Interment will be in the Faith Cemetery, with Military Honors.
