Beverly Basol

Beverly Basol (91) passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND.

Beverly Jean Olson was born May 26, 1927 in Hatton, ND to Marius and Regina (Amundson) Olson. She was raised and educated in Hatton.

Beverly married Gehard Basol on April 8, 1949 in Hatton. They farmed at Portland and McVille before moving to Cooperstown, ND in 1961. She lived in the Cooperstown community for 50 years and worked as a waitress at the Hotel Café, Moline’s Café, the Bowling Alley, and Andy’s Café.  She then worked in the Cooperstown School kitchen, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and in her retirement enjoyed being a part of the quilting group. Gehard passed away October 2, 2005. She moved to Sun Center Assisted Living in Mayville, ND in 2011 and became a resident of Luther Memorial Home in 2015.

Beverly loved to entertain – even in her late 80’s she enjoyed having coffee parties at her assisted living apartment. She was a “people” person – always interested in meeting new friends and re-connecting with old friends. She enjoyed visiting, playing cards, cooking and baking. She and Gehard made many batches of lefse for the holidays over the years. Her family especially loved her meatballs, chocolate chip cookies, and apple pie. She was a very loving Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma who treasured times spent with her loved ones. 

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gehard, grandson Blair Bloms, brothers Gerhard, Norman, Kenneth and sisters Ethel, Avis, and Hildred. She is survived by her son, Richard (Nancy) Basol, Juneau, WI; daughters Louise (Clayton) Heinz, Lake Elmo, MN; Wanda (Carl) Wasness, West Fargo, ND; and Gwen (Jeff) Bloms, Minot, ND. She is also lovingly remembered and survived by her grandchildren Heather (Shawn) Schmidt, Circle Pines, MN; Julie (Dan) Cosgrove, Rosemount, MN; Brenda (Ryan) Kallstrom, Fargo, ND; Brekka (Tyler) Hancock, Minot, ND; Dale (Megan) Wasness, Devils Lake, ND and Dave (Heather) Wasness, Fargo, ND, along with 11 great grandchildren, Brooke, Jada, Maya, Dylan, Parker, Peyton, Preston, Luke, Abby, Leyna, and Hadley.

Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on, Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND. Visitation will continue one hour before funeral services on, Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Luther Memorial Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Little Forks Cemetery, rural Hatton, ND at 1:30 pm.
