CLAUDIA J. JACOBSEN
Claudia Jean Freer, 78, Luverne, ND passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND surrounded by her family.
Claudia was born May 25, 1946 in Hannaford, ND, the daughter of Claude and Myrtle (Bakken) Freer. She grew up in Walum, ND and attended school in Walum and Hannaford where she graduated high school in 1964.
On January 19, 1968 she married her loving husband, James (Jim) Jacobsen, in Aberdeen, SD. They lived in Hannaford for a year before moving into Luverne where they lived for almost 5 years and then moved out to the farm that they currently reside at just north of Luverne.
After high school she worked at the Walum Cafe and she had many bookkeeping jobs including Chamber of Commerce, Valley City, ND; Wedgcor Construction Company in Cooperstown, ND; and her final job was at the Luverne Farmers Elevator where she worked for over 40 years. She retired in 2009.
Some of Claudia’s hobbies over the years included bowling, golfing, sewing, thrifting, online shopping and she had a very strong love for cats. She also enjoyed listening to country artists such as Don Williams and The Oakridge Boys.
For the past 15 years Claudia and Jim have wintered in Arizona where they have met lifelong friends and made many wonderful memories. In Arizona she loved going to many of the dinner theatre shows in the Mesa area and meeting with their friends to visit and dine out.
Claudia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Jim Jacobsen, Luverne ND; daughter, Darcey
(Don) Kosolofski, Hope, ND; son, Clay (Jessica) Jacobsen, Luverne, ND; Sibling Carole
McKinney, Mesa, AZ; brother-in-law Michael Jacobsen, Luverne, ND; sister-in-law Patty
Slepian, Sacramento, CA along with 5 grandchildren; Mara, Mikayla, Kennedy, Brooklyn, Kendall; 3 great grandchildren; Hank, Willa, Quincy and 1 on the way, and she had many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Myrtle Freer; Father and mother-in-law Darrel and Ila Jacobsen, brothers-in-law Dan Slepian and Don McKinney and grandson Brady Jacobsen.
The Jacobsen family would like to thank all of the staff at CHI Mercy Hospital in Valley City, ND.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Hope American Legion, Hope, ND, visitation will be one hour prior.
