JULIE ANN HAALAND

Julie Ann Haaland, 59, Minot, died December 27, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.

Julie was born December 27th, 1961 to Robert and Marlys (Deschene) Thompson in Two Harbors Lake, MN.   Julie grew up in Minnesota and North Dakota attending school at Finley Sharon Highschool graduating in 1980.  Some of Julie’s favorite childhood memories were spending time in Argyle and Stephen, MN with her grandparents. 

Julie moved to Fargo after high school.  Her daughter Carrie was born in 1983.  After her marriage to John Haaland on November 30th 1985 she had 2 more daughters, Amanda and Sara.  Julie spent many years in Burlington, North Dakota and worked at the Ground Round. 

Julie loved spending time with her daughters.  Once the grandchildren came, her life was complete. She loved them so much.  They were the light of her life. 

A favorite pastime of Julie’s was crafting with her mother, Marlys. You could catch them at craft fairs on the weekends selling their creations.  Occasionally they would make a stop at a local casino to see if they could double their earnings.

In 2006 Julie moved back to Finley, North Dakota where she found her calling as a CNA at the local nursing homes.  She loved taking care of and putting a smile on her residents’ faces.  Julie will be remembered for her kind heart, she would go above and beyond for anyone.  . 

Julie is survived her daughters: Carrie (Jeff) Foss, Hatton, ND; Amanda (Chad) Goforth, Minot, ND; Sara (Josh) Eckel, Minot, ND; Grandkids; Skyler & Kaylie Goforth, Minot, ND; Morgan & Madison Foss, Hatton, ND; Step –Grandson; Benjamin Foss, Bismarck, ND; Dad, Robert Thompson, Finley, ND; Sisters:  Renee (Brian) Lyste, Finley, ND; Kimberly (Jerry) Hashbarger, Hope, ND; Sherry (Jeff) Jacobson, Finley, ND.  Many Nieces and Nephews and so many friends she met throughout the years.  

Julie is preceded in death by her mother, Marlys Thompson; niece, Kelley Hashbarger; grandparents, Ole and Bea Deschene and Carl and Julia Thompson. 

Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 10:00 am till 12:00 pm in St. Olaf Catholic Church.  Interment will be at 1:00 pm January 2, 2021 in the Finley Cemetery.
