Greg Nelson, 73, Sutton, ND died Sunday, July 5, 2020 in the Nelson County Care Center, McVille, ND.
Gregory Alan was born September 25, 1946 the son of Lawrence and Erma (Gregory) Nelson. He grew up near Sutton, ND. He graduated from Glenfield – Sutton High School. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and graduated with his degree in Diesel Mechanics. He served in the National Guard out of Camp Grafton.
Greg grew up on the family farm south of Sutton, ND. He made his home in Wimbledon, ND where he owned and operated Greg’s Standard Station. When his father came close to retirement he moved back to the family farm south of Sutton. He married Marlene Thompson, July 20, 1991 in Valley City, ND. He farmed for many years and did a lot of mechanical work in his farm shop.
Greg was very proud of being a farmer. He was interested in working on race cars and over the years acquired several older vehicles especially “Chevys”. Marlene and Greg traveled via their Harley – Davidsons to Sturgis Motorcycle Rallies. The couple enjoyed camping in their motor home and went on several casino trips and NASCAR races. Greg was very active in a Dart League for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene, Sutton, ND; sister, Marcia (Jack) Nelson, AZ; daughters, Dawn (Darren) Beach, Fargo, ND, Cheri (Julie Ireland) Nelson, Jamestown, ND; two granddaughter, Jordan and Joselyn Beach, Fargo, ND; Step-daughters, Sarah Deschamp, Andrea Deschamp both of West Fargo, ND; Aunt, Annie Schrodt, NM and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Services will be Monday, July 13, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Sutton Pub following the Memorial Service. Interment will be in the Wimbledon Methodist Cemetery at a later.
