LENNIE L WENDLICK

February 17, 1952 — April 24, 2026

FINEY

Lennie Leroy Wendlick, age 74, of Finley, North Dakota, was born on February 17, 1952, to Amelia and Lenwood Wendlick. He grew up in the Finley area and graduated from Finley High School in 1970. Following high school, Lennie attended North Dakota State University.

Farming was not just Lennie’s livelihood — it was his passion. He took over the family farm and worked alongside his brother, Larry, for many years before selling the operation in 1999. His love for agriculture never faded, and from 2000 until his planned retirement in 2026, Lennie continued working with the Amundson Farm in the Finley area.

Lennie was a devoted supporter of North Dakota State University athletics. As a longtime Team Maker and proud Bison fan, NDSU football brought him immense joy, and he could always be found wearing green and gold. Lennie was also a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Minnesota Vikings and attended several games over the years. Lennie loved playing softball and partaking in National bowling tournaments throughout the US.

Deeply rooted in the Finley community, Lennie’s devotion to others was evident throughout his life. He was a loyal partner, brother, uncle, and friend — known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone in need. Lennie was truly the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. Lennie was always up for a good conversation with anyone and especially enjoyed spending his summer days just cruising around in his side -by-side.

Lennie was exceptionally proud and a devoted Uncle. One nephew was his special sidekick for many years. Lennie took great pride in mentoring him in all things farming — from early mornings sharing coffee and Oreos, to helping feed the cows, and even learning to drive a grain cart well before earning a learner’s permit.

As his nieces and nephew grew older, Lennie’s role as “Uncle” naturally grew into that of a proud great-uncle. He could often be found cheering from the sidelines as he supported the next generation.

For more than 25 years, Lennie and his beloved partner, Bev Devlin, built a life in Finley, surrounded by family, friendships, and countless cherished memories. Through their life together, Lennie was blessed with additional family, including Bev’s son and daughter, as well as a very special granddaughter. Lennie delighted in spoiling Alivia and could often be found feeding quarters into claw machines, determined to win her yet another stuffed animal.

Lennie is survived by his brother, Larry Wendlick (Linda); his sister, Leona Storch; nephews Justin Wendlick and Lance Johnson; and nieces Casie Groven, Crystal Palm, Danielle Bosse, and Brooke Solberg. Lennie is also survived by Bev Devlin, Son, Scott Devlin, daughter, Lisa (Ron) Abel, Granddaughter, Aliva Abel.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lenwood Wendlick; his mother, Amelia Wendlick; and his sister, Lori Wendlick.
