Loran Leonard Severson

Loran Leonard Severson, 94, of Hope, ND passed away on November 30, 2025, surrounded by family. Loran was born on October 28, 1931, in Becker County, Minnesota
He attended a small country school, later continuing his education in Detroit Lakes and Hope. At the age of sixteen, Loran began working for a local farmer, marking the beginning of a lifelong devotion to agriculture. On September 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Kaye Visby. Together they built a family and a legacy rooted in faith, hard work, and service. Shortly after their marriage, Loran began farming which he remained dedicated to throughout his life.
Loran and Kaye were blessed with four children: Cindy, Dave, Mike and Scott; ten grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. Family was the center of Loran's world, and he cherished every moment spent With them
He was an active and committed member of his community. Loran served on the Redeemer Church Council, on the School Board, Hope Elevator Board, and was a charter Member of the Sons of the American Legion. He also participated in the Civic Club and enjoyed time at the Hope Golf Club. Every morning he was known to be up early-enjoy coffee between the Hope Elevator and Cenex. His contributions touched many lives and reflected his belief in giving back to the place he proudly called Home.
Loran is survived by his Wife of 68 years, Kaye; daughter, Cindy(Mike)Koenig of Waconia, MN; son Dave (MaryAnn)Severson of Fargo, ND; daughter-in-law, Janelle Severson, Moorhead, MN; Grandchildren, Nicole (Tom) Hoese, Joshua (Michelle) Nelson, Jessica (Brent) Knutson, Jason (Kyrie) Severson, Justine (Kalen) Kjellsen, Dustin (Ashley) Severson, Betsy (Brock) Brend, Allison (Travis) McNamara, Martin (Stephanie) Severson and his 29 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his sons Mike and Scott; grandson Jordan Severson.
Loran will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his generosity, his devotion to family, and his quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the community he served, and the family he loved.
Funeral Services will Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Visitation will be one hour before services Interment will be in the Hope Cemetery, Hope, ND.
