Mike “Gimpy” Hanson

Michael Scott Hanson, 58, passed away on October 30, 2023 in the Sanford Hospital of Mayville, ND. He was born on September 15, 1965 to Truman and Connie (Aasen) Hanson in Mayville, ND. He attended school in Finley-Sharon and graduated in 1983. After graduation he attended NDSCS for auto mechanics and Mayville State University for computer programming. He held numerous jobs including Finley Farmers Elevator, IBM, farming on the family farm, custom combining and Stutsman Harley-Davidson. His heart was always in farming. He was known by many for “Gimpy’s CD Band”.

He was married to Wendy Serr and took in her daughter, Shaina, as his own. He later was married to Sonya Heusman with whom he had two boys, Darian and Drake.

Mike enjoyed fishing with his boys, riding Harleys, camping, grilling, watching football, hunting, trapping and raising pigs.

He is survived by his mother Connie Hanson; sisters Kim (Chris) Heinz, Tammy (Wayne) Wood, Jodi (Luke) Carlson; brother Todd (Mary Sherman) Hanson; sons Pete (Lindsey Abbott) Jacobson, Darian and Drake Hanson; an uncle Gerald (Diane) Walswick; an aunt Barb Beckstrand; cousins; many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Truman Hanson; grandparents Arvid Hanson, Oliver and Vivian Erickson and Charles and Luella Aasen.

A celebration of life will be held on November 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Assembly of God church in Finley, ND, visitation will be one hour before the service.
