NICOLE D. CARLSON

Nicole (Nikkie) Carlson was peacefully and lovingly lifted into the arms of our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 3, 2025, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley in the Cooperstown Hospital.

Nikkie was born on July 30, 1976 to Deb (Hofer) and Tim Johnson at St. John’s Hospital in Fargo, ND. She grew up, attended school and graduated from Hope High School in 1994. She briefly attended NDSU before going to work for a licensed daycare provider. At age 21 she went to work along with her Mom at BCBSND, holding a variety of positions until 2013.

Nikkie married her soulmate, Steven Carlson on May 11, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. Twin babies, Shelby and Dalton were born into this marriage on Dec. 21, 2009 (born 15 weeks early.) Sadly, baby Dalton only survived a few hours. Daughter Brynlee joined the family on July 19,2012. They resided in Fargo until moving to Hope in 2013 so that Nikkie could stay at home and raise the girls. They loved to garden and cook together, experimenting with lots of recipes to find the hottest salsa recipe possible. Steve died on Dec. 12, 2021, leaving Nikkie and the girls suddenly and unexpectedly alone, to find purpose and meaning in life without him.

Nikkie is survived by daughters, Shelby and Brynlee, step-children Megan and Justin (Alysa), brother Tim and Danielle (Soholt), sisters-in-law Shirley (Ken), Ginger (Greg), brother-in-law Rex (Theresa) Carlson, five step-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, lots of aunties and uncles and numerous cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Steve and infant son, Dalton, grandparents James and Elaine Hofer, Morris and Goldie Johnson and father-in-law Ron Carlson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025 at 10:30 in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hope, ND. Burial will follow the service at the Hope Cemetery.
