Rita Halvorson (Olson) was born on March 16th 1947. She was the third child of Arthur and Dolly Olson. Her older brother, Larry, and older sister Patsy along with her younger sister Alesa have passed and welcomed her to Heaven. Her brothers Malory, Alfred and sister Ardell are here to celebrate her life.
Rita was married to Wallace (Larry) Halvorson on August 31th 1969. She was blessed with two children Heather and Tory. She also raised her Nephew Ryan for 3 years. She will live on through her 4 grandchildren Hunter, Makaya, Ceara (Tory’s children) and Madelyn (Heather & her husband Sam’s child).
Rita was educated well. She completed high school and then went on to complete a degree in horticulture at NDSU due to her love of plants. After settling down with Larry in Binford, ND she worked several jobs including owning / running the Hub bar “where all spokes lead to your entertainment”, custodian at the church and manager of the Prairie home apartments for 37 years. In her spare time as a homemaker Rita always made time for her family, flowerbeds and huge garden. In the fall you would find her picking apples from her tree that she had grafted several different varieties of apples on and canning her bounties. For 23 years in the summer she would work at Red Willow Resort where the family spent summers at their cabin.
Rita enjoyed hiking with her kids, canning, fishing and going to rodeos in the RV. She loved watching her grandkids as they grew-up and teaching her children and grandchildren the love of cooking, nature, needlepoint, gardening and how to be a kind and patient person.
Rita will be greatly missed by all that have been blessed to know her. She leaves behind her Husband Larry, Children Heather Davids (Sam) and Tory along with Grandchildren Hunter, MaKaya, Ceara and Madelyn. Brothers Malory and Alfred and sister Ardell Grainer and her husband Gordy along with many nieces and nephews.
