Robert Dale Lura, 89, Cooperstown, ND passed Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at his home, Cooperstown, ND.

Robert was born October 11, 1936 in rural home of Shepard, ND to Erling and Jeanette (Benson) Lura. He attended Tyrol School in Griggs County and Cooperstown High School.

After school Robert enlisted in Navy. Stationed in Hawaii, Guam and Japan. After discharge from the Navy, He farmed for a while and was employed at Melroe in Cooperstown and also various businesses.

He married Mildred (Millie) Hagel in Binford at Trinity Lutheran Church on April 10, 1959. They made their home at the Lura family farmstead north of Cooperstown.

In 1963, Bob and Millie became parents of a little girl, Sheila. She is the love of their lives. They moved to Cooperstown in 1967. Sheila grew up to be a very talented musician. Bob and Millie supported her and her musical friends, Kathy Soma, Julie Mrozla, and Jan Zimprich. They traveled with the band on the weekends to several area towns and supported the (Black Velvet) group for many years.

Bob and Millie's nephew, Daryl Hagle, son of George Hagle, lived with them for about four years. He passed away in a tragic car accident.

They enjoyed Saturday drives to area towns and always stopped to enjoy a hamburger and a beer. Throughout their lives, both were avid football fans.

Robert survived by sisters Senora Olagard and June Berg. Daughter-in-law Becky, a long time friend Gina Miller, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and daughter Shelia, parents Erling and Jeanette, brother James, sister Louise.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 5:00 till 7:00 in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, ND, with A Prayer Service will be at 5:00 pm. Interment will be in the Fargo National Veteran Cemetery at 11:00 am, Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Fargo, ND.
