SANDRA SALANDER
Sandra Elaine Salander (67) of Hope, ND passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Daughter of James and Elaine (Tupa) Hofer, Sandy was born June 10th, 1953 in Devils Lake, ND. She grew up in Hope, married her childhood sweetheart Mark and raised two boys, Shawn and Kelly. She was a supportive farm wife and stay-at-home mom until the boys graduated high school. She then worked in Fargo at Swanson’s Health until she started working at the Hope High School as a cook for 17 years until she retired. The students always loved the food she would cook for them, especially the hot ham and cheese sandwiches. Sandy enjoyed cooking for everyone and made sure nobody would leave the house hungry.
One of her favorite pastimes was going to the casino with her mother Elaine, sister Deb, best friend Darcy, and Elaine’s friend Joyce. Sandy loved having morning coffee with her friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, winning quite often, with her friends and family. Sandy would go to Costa Rica with her siblings and spend time by the poolside and playing cards. She loved spending her Saturdays tailgating for the Bison games and cheering them on from the stands. She always loved cheering on her grandchildren in all the activities they would partake in over the years.
Sandy is survived by her Mother Elaine Hofer, childhood sweetheart and husband of 48 years Mark Salander; two son’s Shawn (Laurie) Salander, Argusville, ND, Kelly (Kimberly) Salander, Hillsboro, ND; Grandchildren Madison, Elaina, Brendon, Brody, Calvin, Roman; Siblings Michael (Karen) Hofer, Jon (Sharon) Hofer, Deb (Tim) Johnson, Rick (Lori) Hofer.
