SHEILA LURA BOURD

Sheila Lura passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at her home she shared with Becky and their pups.

Sheila was born October 21, 1962 in Fargo, ND to Robert and Mildred (Hagle) Lura. She grew up in Cooperstown, ND and attended public school graduating in 1980. She went on to get her Associate Degree in music in Valley City. She was baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown.

Music was her first love, mastering most musical instruments. She and her friends, Kathy Soma, Julie Marozla and Jan Zimprich formed a band “Black Velvet”. Bob and Mille became “groupies” and attended their shows when ever they could. Sheila worked at Sheyenne Care Center and Open Door in Valley City. Sheila was diagnosed with cancer in 2020. She under went chemo and surgeries and with her strong determination, she beat it.

Sheila met the love her life “Becky”. Excited to share their lives together, they were married September 18, 2015. What a beautiful adventure they had. They loved to jet ski, go pontooning, and they became famous on Facebook for their musical videos at the “Snooze and Booze Café”. These brought a lot of laughter to so many. Sheila also loved to play pool and was known as a “Shark”, she showed no mercy for the guys she beat.

Sheila will be remembered as a truly remarkable woman. Funny, caring, loyal, honest, a musician, a decorator and Chef. Everyone that knew her loved her. She and Becky also opened their home to many puppies over the years.

She was admitted to the hospital with a cancerous tumor in her esophagus. She fought a valiant battle, but sadly could not beat it this time. Her wish was to go home with Becky and their pups.

She is survived by her wife, Becky; father, Bob Lura; close friend Gina Miller; also the fur babies, Teddy, Harley, Lucy and Minnow, also many family and friends.

She was welcomed into heaven by her mother Millie and her in-laws Robert and Roberta Borud.

A Celebration of Life will Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 1:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Cooperstown, ND, visitation will be one hour before services.
