Sherry L. Steffen

Sherry Lynn Steffen, 61, Cooperstown, ND died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 in the Dakota Regional Medical Center.

Sherry Steffen was born on April 3,1964 in Fargo, ND to Elvin and Shirley (Bistodeau) Johnson. Sherry grew up in Page, ND and graduated from Page High School in 1983. After high school she attended ND State School Science in Wahpeton ND and Joseph’s School of Hair Design in Fargo, ND. She married Todd Steffen on August 20,1988 in Page, ND and they made their home in Santa Fe, Texas. Sherry and Todd had their two son’s and adopted a daughter while living in TX. They moved their family to Cooperstown, ND in 1993.

Sherry and Todd raised her children in Cooperstown, ND while Todd worked in the off- shore oil exploration industry taking him away for several months of the year. Besides being a homemaker, Sherry worked in various local businesses holding various positions but most notably in the healthcare industry as a CNA, at Griggs County Care Center.

Sherry was known for her caring, compassion, advocacy and willingness to step in and help anyone. She advocated for people with disabilities and anyone in need. She volunteered as a Scout Leader in Boy Scouts, coached local t-ball, little league and pewee baseball. She had a significant role in leadership and organization of the local Giving Tree. Sherry would drop everything at a moment's notice to help family, extended family and close friends in any emergency and especially during times of health crisis.

Sherry adored her family. She loved doing things for her children and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, fishing, horseback riding, gardening and of course, helping people. Sherry was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting family at home or at the lake.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Todd of Cooperstown, ND; three children, Tammy (Josh) Rehbein of Richey, MT, Andrew Steffen, West Fargo, ND, Bradley Steffen of West Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Dally Rehbein, Braxton Steffen, Jud Rehbein, and Barrett Steffen; four siblings, Jeff (Dorren) Johnson of Moorhead, MN, Ivy Savageau of Glyndon, MN, Sandy (Gene) Smith of Fargo, ND, Barry (Sherry) Johnson of West Fargo, ND; sister in law, Kim (Randy) Johnson of West Fargo, ND; mother and father in law, Janice and Dale Steffen of Cooperstown, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; Elvin and Shirley; brothers, Rodney and Randy.

Visitation will Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00 pm in the Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home Cooperstown, ND. A Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown, ND. Interment will be 3:45 in the Zion Cemetery, rural Binford, ND.
