She grew up and attended grade school in Dazey, ND and graduated HS in 1941 from Hannaford HS. In 1942, while still single, she worked for the  “CCC” in  Cooperstown where she met her future husband, K.A. (Little Kenny) Monson. They were married in August of 1944 and celebrated 67 years together.  Two children were born to this union, a son Roger in 1946 and a daughter Leona in 1948.

Following these years, They enjoyed their retirement traveling and sharing hobbies. Shortly after Kenny’s death in 2011, Mae became a full-time resident of the Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown. After 8 years of loving care by the nursing home staff, she passed away there living to the age of almost 96 years.

Mae volunteered in many capacities in her lifetime.
